New Delhi: Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday said it has elected Vinod Aggarwal, MD & CEO, VE Commercial Vehicles Limited (VECV) as its new Vice President for 2021-22.
Aggarwal will replace Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland Limited who served as the Vice President of SIAM from September 2020 till date.
VECV is a joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited. Aggarwal joined Eicher in 1983 and since then has managed various finance and commercial roles in the Eicher businesses including tractors, trucks, buses, components and engine business.
“Change in Vice Presidentship has been done due to the resignation of Vipin Sondhi from his position at Ashok Leyland,” the industry body said.
In October this year, Aggarwal was also appointed as the President of Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC), replacing Nikunj Sanghi.
Kenichi Ayukawa, President, SIAM, said, “We thank Vipin Sondhi for his valuable and active contribution and leadership as Vice President of SIAM, and wish him all the best for his future endeavours. We welcome Vinod Aggarwal as the Vice-President. He is an old hand at SIAM and has led as its Treasurer.”
On November 26, Ashok Leyland informed that Sondhi has stepped down as the company’s MD & CEO due to personal commitments. He was appointed MD & CEO in December 2019, for 5 years.
