Automotive: SUVs continue their irresistible march forward

Despite controversy and hostility from a section of the population, SUV sales have gained further ground in 2021. If the latest figures are not yet available, vehicles classified under this label represented on the top ten month of the year 42% of sales in Europe, and 47% of sales in China, according to the Inovev institute.

The progression seems inexorable: the market share of this type of bodywork was only 38% last year on the Old Continent, and only 19% in 2013. The Hexagon, which traditionally favored versatile city cars or sedans family, is not isolated: over the first eleven months of 2021, the Peugeot 2008 comes third in sales, a stone’s throw from the 208 and the Clio. The Renault Captur (in sixth place), the 3008 (seventh) and the Dacia Duster (ninth) are also well placed.
