New Delhi:
As the pandemic-hit Indian economy comes back on track, industrial activities are on the rise providing opportunities for new players in the manufacturing sector.
The Atlanta (USA)- based Dematic, a global leader in Intralogistics automation, has taken on board Biswajyoti Mandal to lead its India operation. Biswa, as he’s more popularly known, leaves Schaeffler India, after about four years in the company, where he was responsible for evolving and maintaining technology solutions, and providing technology support to new products and services, among other responsibilities. Scheffler India is yet to announce his successor.
Dematic is a global leader in integrated supply chain automation technologies, software and services. The growing activities in India’s manufacturing sector, also led to a good extent by the e-commerce boom, are offering new growth opportunities for players in digitisation of manufacturing operations and material handling. It is part of the EUR 8 billion German group Kion, which also owns Linde Material handling, a global major in forklifts and industrial trucks, among other brands.
The latest career move of Biswa is also an example of Indian engineering professionals being offered leadership roles by global companies. Dematic’s India operation could also grow to be a global manufacturing and engineering hub.
Prior to Schaeffler India, Biswa was the R&D head at Mahindra & Mahindra farm equipment sector. Before joining M&M, he had a leadership role in John Deere’s technology center in Pune. Biswa has been working in the technology and R&D domain for 30 years for Indian and global product and technology companies.
