Neo Battery Materials will build a metal silicon factory in Korea. Metal silicon is a basic material for secondary batteries. Applying metal silicon to the anode material, which is a battery material, increases energy capacity.

It was known on the 30th that Neo Battery Materials is to establish a new metal silicon plant in Gyeonggi Province.

Neo Battery is a Canadian secondary battery-based company. The company plans to build a metal silicon plant as early as the new year to strengthen its secondary battery-based business value chain. The size of the investment and production capacity were not disclosed.

Metal silicon is an essential material for secondary battery anode materials. When a secondary battery anode material is applied in the form of metal silicon powder, the energy capacity increases.

It is the first time that Neo Battery has produced metal silicon in Korea. With the rapid growth of the secondary battery market, it seems that a factory is being built in Korea to supply materials to Korean battery companies.

Neo Battery is actively recruiting domestic companies and academic battery experts to mass-produce silicon anode materials. Sung-rok Hwang, a former Vice President of Samsung SDI, was appointed as the new Vice President and recruited Yonsei University professor Jong-hyuk Park and Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) Dr. Byung-soo Kim.
