Following other companies in the automotive and mechanical engineering industries, Continental has also decided to temporarily stop its production and business in Russia. The main focus is on the Kaluga plant, which produces tires and parts for the Contitech industrial division.
“We have decided to suspend production for the time being against the background of the war against Ukraine and the current upheavals associated with it,” said the company’s headquarters in Hanover on Tuesday. That applies from now on. In addition, the entire import and export business with the Russian Federation has ended for the time being.
The current demand will be served “until further notice from the existing on-site stocks”. Conti also operates sales offices in Moscow and is involved in a joint venture in Chistopol near Kazan, which assembles tachographs for commercial vehicles.
