Due to missing parts in connection with the war in Ukraine, the sports car manufacturer has to stop production of the Taycan electric car at the main plant in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen from now until the end of next week. The Porsche plant in Leipzig also had to suspend production for this reason.
Production will start up again in the coming week thanks to the improved supply situation with reduced operation, Porsche explained. The automotive industry is currently lacking, above all, cable networks, which are manufactured in the Ukraine, for example, by the German supplier Leoni.
Wiring harnesses are among the components in a car that cannot be retrofitted after delivery – unlike semiconductors, for example, which have been in short supply for some time. The production of the 911 and 718 model series in the main plant is not affected, Porsche added.
