Zoox takes over Argri start-up

Startup Strio.AI becomes part of startup Zoox, bought by Amazon.

The young company Zoox develops autonomous driving and was taken over by the internet department store Amazon acquired. It is unclear whether Amazon wants to open its own robotic taxi business and/or use the technology for delivery when shopping online. But now Amazon seems to be interested in further automation developments.

With the start-up Strio.AI, you take over a company that specializes in automating the strawberry harvest. Does Amazon now want to enter agriculture? This is certainly a future market.

The founder of Strio.AI, based in Boston was previously at Optimus Ride and at Google responsible for the development of autonomous driving. Four of the team’s engineers were previously at Zoox and focused on the sensors.

Meanwhile, Zoox is opening another office in Boston to scale on the east coast.
