Toyota with partial autonomy in the Mirai

The Japanese manufacturer Toyota will integrate the Teammate into its Mirai model.

The manufacturer Toyota will equip its first model with a system of partial autonomy: the Toyota Mirai. The Teammate system will be available from this year.

The system is in the luxury brand from Toyota, the Lexus, already included. It allows level 2 automation. Although the vehicle can control many things, it must be monitored by humans. The system consists of two main areas: Advanced Park and Advanced Drive. Thanks to all-round sensors, the car can also park itself at the touch of a button.

On certain routes in the USA it is legal to take your hands off the wheel while driving. But you still have to monitor the vehicle constantly and not be busy with anything else. However, the Teammate system can also change lanes by itself.

However, the system hits the budget with a surcharge of 5,170 US dollars. This purchases a subscription service that lasts for ten years.
