Audi and Holoride team up to make road trips a unique experience through virtual reality.
As of June, the German brand will become the first car manufacturer to include virtual reality in its vehicles with the peculiarity that it adapts to driving movements. In this way, passengers in the rear seats can enjoy updated games, movies and interactive content in real time.
This is what is known as “elastic content”, so that if the vehicle turns right, in virtual reality it will also take a right curve. This also avoids dizziness during the journey, which is very common among passengers. In order to make use of this functionality, the vehicle must be connected to a wireless virtual reality headset that is approved to create an immersive experience.
Holoride is a German company with a proven track record in the virtual reality industry. Specifically, it created a car game experience based on the Marvel universe, in collaboration with Disney Games and Interactive Experiences. So we could say that this union with Audi benefits both parties, gaining brand reputation in the market and increasing sales through this digitization strategy.
These are the Audi models that will have this technology
The models that will be prepared with Holoride virtual reality technology are the following: Audi A4, A5, A6, A7, A8, Q5, Q7, Q8, Audie e-tron and Audi e-tron GT quattro. While availability will vary by market and available stock, the launch will be in the German, UK and US markets first. Subsequently, other markets will gradually join.
This virtual reality technology will be presented at the South by Southwest festival in Texas that is taking place these days. There, visitors will be able to experience this technological innovation first-hand in an electric Audi vehicle on the move. Thus, the experience will be totally real.
Automated driving is gaining ground in the market
Can you imagine working while traveling by car? The innovation in the automobile sector that we are experiencing today places customers at the center and seeks to turn the vehicle into an entertainment space. In such a way that users do not have to concentrate on driving and can dedicate that travel time to other matters.
