Step by step, Plastic Omnium is reshaping its product portfolio to adapt to the scheduled disappearance of internal combustion engines. The equipment manufacturer announced two investments in electric mobility on Tuesday, including one in the promising young tricolor Verkor, chosen by Renault to become one of its battery suppliers.
Plastic Omnium will participate in the company’s new funding round, providing it with 20 million euros. “Our ambition is not to produce battery cells, but to understand the technology”, insisted its general manager Laurent Favre. The Burelle family-controlled company also secures “privileged access” to a share of the future production of Verkor , up to a quarter of the 16 GWh expected from 2025.
