Chair back at Volkswagen: According to insiders, Klaus Zellmer is to become the new Skoda boss. “This is a realistic scenario,” said a person familiar with the events of the news agency Reuters on Friday. The personnel should be announced on Monday. Zellmer, currently Sales Director of the VW Passenger Cars brand and before that worked for Porsche for a long time, is to replace Thomas Schäfer at the Czech VW subsidiary.
Schäfer is currently familiarizing himself with the operational business of the VW brand and will later move up to the group board. There he replaces Ralf Brandstätter, who will be in charge of the China business as the new Group Executive Board from August. Volkswagen declined to comment on Zellmer’s personnel.
The personnel carousel was set in motion at the beginning of December when the supervisory board approved the truce that allowed group boss Herbert Diess to remain at the top of the company. “Business Insider” reported in March that Zellmer was the most promising of two candidates for the post at the top of Skoda.
