FIOM-CGIL announces that on 1 April 2022 it was communicated to Comau employees that with immediate effect Pietro Gorlier was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Comau to replace Paolo Carmassi, who decided, not even 2 years after his appointment, to leave the ‘agency.
Gorlier, considered one of the “men of Marchionne”,in the past he was also head of EMEA at FCA.
News that does not come unexpectedly among the Comau workers, since the news of the change at the top had been in the air for some time in the company. “This umpteenth change in the Comau management raises concern among workers, since in recent months there have been several company figures who have decided to leave their positions in the company”, the union said.
“FIOM-CGIL hopes that as soon as possible the new CEO will undertake to represent Comau’s industrial and production prospects to employees and their trade union representatives” continues the note from Fiom.
Edi lazzi, provincial secretary of FIOM-CGIL and Antonino Inserra, Comau manager for FIOM-CGIL, declare: “We are worried about the constant changes at the Comau summit. The workforce of the Comau plant in Grugliasco (TO) increased from about 1100 employees at the end of 2018 to the current 850, also passing through the sale of part of the industrial sheds. We need to understand what Stellantis’ intentions are for Comau. If, as announced in the past, the company is on the market to be sold or if it finds a place in Stellantis’ current business plan. Workers have the right to know their future. “
