Autonomous car flees police control?

An autonomous vehicle from the company Cruise is said to have fled from a police check – but it is not really.

In California, licensed companies are allowed to drive cars without security guards on board. Besides for example Waymo has also Cruise on behalf of GM such permission. Pony.ai lost its license recently because the car hit a tree with no safety drivers.

Such a vehicle has now attracted attention in the USA because it supposedly escaped control. On April 2nd the incident occurred in which a Police car came to a stop behind a Cruise vehicle at a red light and the officer wanted to check the vehicle. The reason for the check is said to have been headlights that were not switched on. But because there is no one in the car now, the policeman goes back to his company car.

The traffic light turns green and the car comes to a safe place behind the intersection. First two, then another police officer approaches the cruise vehicle. The officers try to gain access to the car and circle around the vehicle, which seems to pose a challenge to them. Finally, the officials phoned the company.
