Shaken by the blows of fate, Renault is holding its course while waiting for better days. The tricolor manufacturer recorded a further drop in sales in the first quarter, mainly attributable to the shortage of semiconductors which never ceases to disrupt the sector . The Losange has however managed to preserve most of its turnover, thanks to the strategy favoring value over volumes driven by general manager Luca de Meo.
According to figures released Friday, the group’s worldwide sales amounted to 552,000 vehicles in the first three months of the year, down 17.1% year on year. We have to go back to the 2009 crisis to find such a low level. By way of comparison, registrations had exceeded 900,000 copies in the first quarter of 2019.
