Detroit’s I 95 is set to become a corridor for autonomous driving

The city of Detroit in Michigan is to receive a corridor for autonomous driving: Interstate 95.

Detroit is the former car capital and still has today General Motors its headquarters there. In the city there are also some start-ups like May Mobility on the way and ford initiated a research campus here.

Michigan plans with the company Cavnue since 2020 regarding an autonomous driving corridor on Interstate 95, the ann arbor and Detroit connects. The route has been completed in planning and has received a financial injection from Ford. Overall, Cavnue has $130 million to show.

It is planned that there will be an extra lane for the autonomous vehicles. This 25-mile lane will only be used by autonomous vehicles. The route is intended to become the blueprint for other connections in Michigan. Further studies and planning will be carried out for this purpose.
