99 reduces 37.5% of incidents against platform drivers across the country

The 99 app ends 2021 with a 37.5% reduction, per million rides, in serious incidents against partner drivers across the country. The survey carried out by the company considers cases such as theft, kidnappings and assaults.

The improvement in indices was also recorded in all safety incidents involving drivers and passengers on the platform, which fell by 23%, with emphasis on the states of Pará (36%), Rio de Janeiro (35%), Ceará (35 %) and São Paulo (29%).

The result was attributed to the investment of R$ 70 million in security in the last two years. According to 99, the platform has a protection ecosystem divided into two main axes: development of technologies and specialized professionals, who together offer protection before, during and after travel. Among the initiatives are features launched such as additional passenger checks, expansion of in-car cameras, improved tracking of races via GPS and audio recording.

“Actively listening to partner drivers and passengers, through research and conversations, was essential for their development, implementation and improvement”, says Tatiana Scatena, Safety Director at 99. “We also understand that safety is an ongoing work and never finished, so we will continue investing to improve our systems”, he adds.

In 2021, features such as Access Validation were implemented, which uses a Serasa Experian fraud prevention solution to verify that passengers own the document informed through a questionnaire; RG scanning, with instant verification of the identity document; Dynamic Mapping of Risk Areas, which allows partner drivers to collaborate with the identification of these regions; in addition to Artificial Intelligence, which analyze potential risks and add layers of security for passengers and drivers, from start to finish of trips.

The company also launched the Security Assistant, which improves the experience and activates protection tools in the app itself. Located on the blue shield, users can quickly access driver and passenger information, or activate some feature when abnormal behavior is identified during or after the ride, such as audio recording or route sharing.

Another initiative is the Extended Risk Area Mapping, which works in a dynamic and collaborative manner. Without blocking specific areas of the city, the platform relies on data collected from the Public Security Departments, information from the app, classification carried out by partner drivers to temporarily block any region that may present a security risk to the public. race.

Artificial Intelligences have also been implemented that protect users before, during and after the race. Before races, AI Hercules checks for patterns of risky behavior, blocks the call and only releases it after validation of passenger data.

The Cubo tool, on the other hand, acts to prevent drivers from being directed to areas with signs of violence. For female passengers, Pythia and Athena analyze the algorithms to target only female or better-rated drivers to them. During the race, trips are monitored in real time, through artificial intelligence that detects long stops or journeys with longer-than-expected time to take additional safety measures. At the end of the race, AI Artemis, developed in partnership with the consultancy Think Eva, tracks comments with complaints of harassment to block aggressors and direct victims to humanized care.

There are also security cameras on board the vehicle, with a “fisheye” lens and night vision, in addition to accompanying a panic button in case of need. All users also have audio recording, route sharing with trusted contacts, a button to call the police directly and a Security Center that works 24 hours a day and offers humanized service and immediate support.
