AHMEDABAD: The civic body will shortly be inviting private players to set up electric vehicle charging stations in the city, which will be run on PPP mode. The fine-tuning is being done in the contract documents at the moment and tenders will be floated shortly, said senior AMC officials.
Though the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) aims at setting up 300 charging stations on PPP mode as per the budget proposal for 2022-23, the civic body will initially begin with 25 to 30 stations.
The AMC plans to provide land to the private player while standard equipment and manpower will be of the investor.
“The fine tuning to the PPP contract document is being done along with revenue sharing model. Provisions like the AMC will provide land at a token rate of Re 1 per square metre per month along with exemption from town planning and any other development costs are being finally examined. Policy related to land cabling, transmission infrastructure, and equipment will also be laid out with the tender document,” said a senior AMC official.
The official added that the cost of the per unit is being decided upon. Delhi recently announced Rs 2 per unit.
The AMC will map the EV charging stations on its GIS map and the list will be uploaded on the AMC website or app and updated regularly.
