NHAI to raise ₹20k crore from monetisation

NEW DELHI: The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has put out a list of 14 NH projects with a cumulative length of 1,750 km which will be monetised during the current financial year. The highways authority has set the target to raise Rs 20,000 crore from the monetisation of these projects.

“The identified assets will be monetised through toll operate and transfer (TOT), InVIT and toll securitisation. We expect to get a good response as these are all good revenue generating stretches,” said an official.

The identified projects include the 252 km stretch of Hyderabad-Bangalore highway, Srikakulam-Vijayawada (239 km), Hyderabad-Nagpur (252 km) and Gandhidham-Kandla-Mundhra Port (56 km) NH stretches.

During 2021-22, the NHAI had raised Rs 8,000 crore through monetisation of five projects accounting for 400 km through the first tranche of InVIT. InvITs are collective investment vehicles similar to a mutual fund, which enables direct monetary investment from individual and institutional investors in infrastructure projects which earn them a small portion of the income as return.

“Ambitious targets to fulfil the ambitions of New India! Under the leadership of PM Shri @narendramodiji, we are committed to expanding the NH network across the country with the aim of constructing 18,000 km of NHs in 2022-23 at a record speed of 50km per day,” he said in a tweet.
