Cleantechnica: Tesla Scored 100/100 for 7th Consecutive Year on LGBTQ Equality 002014

Tesla scored 100/100 for the seventh consecutive year on the topic of LGBTQ equality. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) released its 2022 Corporate Equality Index listing, which ranks workplaces on LGBTQ equality. It has recognized 842 businesses this year that met all of the criteria to earn a 100% rating, which is necessary to be included in its 2022 Best Place to Work for LGBTQ+ Equality.

We are trying to accelerate sustainable energy, so what matters is how much someone can contribute to that goal.
Personal choices are your own and are respected.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk reaffirmed his support of human rights and equality in the tweet above while pointing out the company’s focus is on accelerating sustainable energy. In addition to this, he also responded to his 2018 tweet that boldly supported LGBTQ rights.
In 2018, an account that is now suspended on Twitter criticized Elon Musk and Tesla for supporting human pride and Elon responded by saying that the critic would really hate that Tesla scored 100/100 for four consecutive years on LGBTQ equality.

As I said in 2018 …

Elon Musk recently took a stand against the “current thing,” and for June, it’s corporations flying the Pride flag. Many saw the meme as insensitive and homophobic, but I think the point was calling out companies using Pride and human rights as a way to make additional profits.
Although it may seem supportive if a corporation allows one to be proud of who they are, there is a debate as to whether or not this is actual support or corporations taking advantage of Pride in order to make profits — using Pride and human rights to cash in and then move on to the next “current thing.”
On the flip side, Exxon was called out for not being supportive. The oil and gas giant is banning both the LGBTQ rights flag and the Black Lives Matter flag from being flown outside during Pride month.
I personally think that it’s a nice touch if companies allow Pride flags to be flown and it shows support. But I think that this support should be year-round and not just once a month.
And all companies should have policies in place that ensure the protection of human rights.
It’s great to support human rights and be proud of who you are. It’s important to remember that we all should do more than just fly flags one month out of the year. If you’re an ally, then be one. The LGBTQ community needs more than just flags and pretty words. Did you know that in the US, 4.2 million LGBTQ youth experience homelessness? All because of who they are. Being an ally of any cause means taking action besides thoughts and prayers.
I think it’s great to see Elon Musk reaffirming his support of LGBTQ and human rights, and it also benefits Tesla as well as its employees. However, I think we all can be better allies by striving to do as much good as we can.
