2022-06-06
SHANGHAI – Cadillac announced today that its first all-electric vehicle the LYRIQ luxury SUV is now available for order in China, marking the brand’s accelerated transition to an electric and intelligent future in its largest market.
Three variants are available: the rear-wheel-drive long-range Luxury model, the rear-wheel-drive long-range Prestige model and the all-wheel-drive high-performance Prestige model. They are priced between RMB 439,700 and RMB 479,700. Customers can place orders with a deposit of RMB 5,000 through the Cadillac IQ App and may select from three new exterior colors.
Cadillac also announced special financing packages and charging offers for LYRIQ customers to make the luxury EV experience more accessible. They include a 15% minimum down payment and up to 60 installments at a minimum 2.99% interest rate. Additional leasing options will allow customers to return their vehicle after three years or benefit from lower residual value risks.
“LYRIQ signifies the beginning of a new era for our iconic brand and is only the beginning for our transformation to an all-electric portfolio,” said Chris Biggs, Vice President of CADILLAC in China.
“It will appeal to today’s generation of tech-savvy Chinese consumers who value CADILLAC’s stunning design and its history of over a century of innovation. We look forward to their excitement as they embrace this groundbreaking product and enjoy the unique luxury EV experience that will be a signature of all CADILLAC EVs.”
The LYRIQ is being built at SAIC-GM’s Cadillac plant in Shanghai. Deliveries of the two rear-wheel-drive long-range variants are expected to start in late September or early October. Deliveries of the all-wheel-drive high-performance variant will begin in late December or early 2023.
Production versions of the LYRIQ show car will start arriving at Cadillac IQ Spaces later this month for customer test drives.
Innovative retail experience
In response to growing customer demand to shop seamlessly between online and offline channels, Cadillac has transformed its sales and marketing channels with the launch of the new Cadillac IQ App and IQ Spaces, modernizing the entire retail experience.
The refreshed IQ App provides comprehensive information during the LYRIQ buying and ownership experience, ranging from vehicle configuration, ordering and reservations for test drives to vehicle health checks, charging configuration and the purchase of LYRIQ lifestyle products. Car clubs based on personal interests will enable LYRIQ customers to connect and socialize with other like-minded owners.
Independent IQ Spaces provide an immersive brand experience for customers, with viewing, selection, ordering and diversified offline engagement activities. Cadillac now has 19 IQ Spaces in 12 cities, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou and Shenzhen. The showroom network is expanding to more cities across China.
Seamless charging experience
Cadillac is offering LYRIQ buyers customer-centric charging services in addition to home charging to eliminate range anxiety and ensure a luxury charging experience on the go.
Cadillac IQ Charging Service Centers in prime urban locations will offer exclusive services for Cadillac EV buyers, such as charging, free parking and relaxation activities. They will be equipped primarily with 120- or 180-kW DC fast-charging piles. The newest IQ Charging Service Center opened at Terminal T2 of Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport earlier this year. More IQ Charging Service Centers will open in up to 30 cities in 2022.
In addition, Cadillac is partnering with mainstream domestic charging operators, including TELD, Starcharge and the State Grid, to offer access to public charging networks in 320 cities nationwide. It targets to expand access to over 300,000 charging piles by the end of this year. Customers can enjoy the same seamless charging experience for searching, navigation and payment through the IQ App.
Beginning of a new EV future
The all-new LYRIQ is the first Cadillac model developed on GM’s Ultium platform. It builds on a century of Cadillac design and technology innovation to usher in a new era for electric luxury vehicles.
The mid-large SUV has a length of more than 5.0 meters and a wheelbase of nearly 3.1 meters. Thanks to Ultium’s energy recovery system, the LYRIQ can charge and accelerate faster and drive farther. The rear-wheel-drive long-range luxury model has a China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC) range of over 650 kilometers on a full charge. All models support fast charging, with a 10-minute charge increasing their range by 96 kilometers.
The LYRIQ is designed to redefine luxury of electric mobility with expressive styling and artfully integrated advanced technology. Its high-tech 1.8-meter ultra-large black grille along with vertical LED headlights and LED taillights give it a futuristic and charming look.
Its refined interior represents a combination of art and technology with attention to detail. It is highlighted by a segment-only 33-inch diagonal advanced LED display, AKG 19-speaker Studio System, laser-etched patterns, detailed knobs and 26-color ambient lighting that enhances the driving experience.
Additionally, the LYRIQ is designed to meet the higher safety standards for EVs in the domestic market. It comes with GM’s next-generation Super Cruise driver assist technology and has up to 24 active safety features, including automatic emergency braking and rear automatic braking.
