LUCKNOW: The new taxes levied on commercial vehicles in the LMC budget on Monday will have a direct impact on thousands of people who take auto-rickshaws, e-rickshaws and cabs to commute.
The owners of autos, tempos and e-rickshaws will have to pay INR 2,000 per year and those who own cabs will have to shell out INR 2,500 annually. SUVs and small goods transport vehicles will be taxed INR 4,000 annually, while mini bus and full-size bus/truck owners will pay INR 5,000 and INR 6,000, respectively.
The civic body will levy licence fee on travel agencies. Small travel agencies will pay INR 8,000 while big operators will have to pay INR 12,000 per annum. For agencies giving luxury cars on rent, the annual fee will be INR 24,000.
Similarly, big mobile food carts while have to pay INR 36,000 per annum instead of INR 24,000 levied earlier, while small carts will pay INR 27,000 instead of INR 18,000.
Another proposal approved was to levy tax on 181 scrap sites identified by LDA. The owners of small sites will pay INR 30,000, medium INR 45,000 and big ones INR 60,000 annually. To check rising air pollution, industries, commercial complex and construction material traders violating NGT guidelines will be fined. The amount will be decided later. The INR 2,162 crore budget was tabled by Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia. The estimated revenue of the civic body in 2022-23 is INR 1,884 crore and expenditure has been pegged at INR 1,825 crore.
“We have tried to increase the civic body’s income through this budget and to speed up development work in the city. All sectors that come under LMC have been allocated adequate funds for development and maintenance of civic amenities,” she said.
