Malaysia-based car marketplace Carsome has announced key appointments to its advisory board while State Street Global Advisors has appointed Jermyn Wong as head of its SPDR exchange-traded fund business in Singapore.

Malaysia-based car marketplace Carsome has announced key appointments to its advisory board to lead regional expansion and accelerate growth as the company continues to strengthen its leadership in Southeast Asia.

The board currently consists of four members, namely Nicholas Nash, managing partner & co-founder of Asia Partners; Harish Bahl, founder of Smile Group; Pandu Sjahrir, managing partner of Indies Capital; and Dan Neary, vice-president of Meta Asia Pacific.

Nash was best known for spearheading Greater Southeast Asia’s leading Internet company Sea Ltd’s landmark IPO on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the largest US IPO of a Southeast Asian company.

Bahl is a serial entrepreneur with a successful track record in founding and building leading e-commerce and digital media companies across Asia and other emerging markets.

Meanwhile, Sjahrir, one of Southeast Asia’s leading and most influential investors, serves in multiple organisations to promote entrepreneurship and education in the region.

Founded in 2015 by Cheng and Teoh Jiun Ee, Carsome provides end-to-end solutions for car buyers and dealers, starting from vehicle inspection to ownership transfer and car financing. It works with over 8,000 used car dealers who have collectively made more than 4.4 million bids, according to its website.

State Street names Singapore ETF head

State Street Global Advisors has appointed Jermyn Wong as head of its SPDR exchange-traded fund (ETF) business in Singapore, per a report by finews.asia.

In this role, he will report to Meaghan Victor, managing director and head of SPDR ETF Asia-Pacific distribution. He has 10 years of experience in the Singapore financial industry and was previously Nikko Asset Management’s Asia head of ETF business development.

Prior to Nikko AM, Wong had a stint as a senior trader at Genk Capital in Singapore, and earlier in a range of distribution, capital markets and product development roles.

State Street Global Advisors is the investment management division of State Street Corporation and the world’s fourth-largest asset manager, with nearly $4.14 trillion in assets under management as of Dec 31 2021.
