NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nissan NEXT, the plan to transform Nissan into a quality, sustainable business, has laid a strong foundation. Today, Nissan is announcing changes to its leadership team that will continue to build on the progress and momentum of the company in North America.
Rich Miller, currently program director, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (NML), returns to the U.S. from an overseas assignment to be named vice president, Vehicle Connected Services & Program Management Office, U.S. and Canada. In this role, Miller will be responsible for managing vehicle line profitability and leading Nissan’s Connected Services organization.
Miller has been with Nissan for nearly 27 years, holding a variety of roles with increasing responsibility. His experience prior to his assignment in Japan includes roles in product planning at Nissan North America and engineering roles at Nissan Technical Center North America (NTCNA).
Miller replaces Sonia Rief, who assumes his previous position as program director, NML. Rief has been with Nissan for more than 20 years, holding a variety of leadership roles in engineering, product development, project management, vehicle investment and profitability management and vehicle connected services at Nissan Americas headquarters, NTCNA and Nissan’s Global Headquarters in Japan.
She was named one of the 100 Leading Women in the North American Auto Industry by Automotive News in both 2015 and 2020, and she was honored as one of the publication’s “Rising Stars – Automakers and Suppliers” in 2019.
“As a global organization, gaining experience throughout the company is key to developing top leaders for tomorrow,” said Jérémie Papin, chairperson, Nissan Americas. “We are happy to have Rich rejoin the North American planning function to help us continue our business transformation and to see Sonia to take her leadership and experience to make a strong impact on our global LCV organization.”
