Hydron: Hydrogen-powered, autonomous trucks

The new company Hydron wants to combine autonomous driving with hydrogen propulsion.

Hydron has written it not only in its name, but also on the flag: hydrogen as a new source of propulsion. You want to connect this type of drive with autonomous driving and such trucks develop. Hydron’s founder, Mo Chen, is also a co-founder of TuSimple, a leader in the development of the autonomous truck.

In addition to the battery, this type of drive is a form of transport decarbonization. The advantage lies in the quick refueling and in the range. This is particularly interesting for trucks on long-distance journeys.

The announcement about it was not very detailed and apparently initially serves to collect funds. But it’s the first company to unveil such a strategy. They want to develop, manufacture and sell the trucks by 2025. companies like Toyota, Hyundai or Nikola have an increased interest in hydrogen technology, but no corresponding plans for a combination with autonomous driving.
