Electric vehicle Charging startup ElectriVa will set up 12 charging points in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh as per city’s municipal corporation plan to install charging stations across the city.
The civic body has awarded the contract to ElectriVa, who said most of the charging station will be fast charging ones, which will cater to the growing number of commercial and passenger electric vehicles in the city.
“We have a target of providing EV charging facilities in top 100 cities of the country in the next one year. We are already the largest player in Delhi and NCR. In the next three years, ElectriVa will set up, operate and maintain more than one fourth of total EV stations in India,” said Sumit Dhanuka, Founder, ElectriVa.
The company has been in talks with several funds to raise over Rs 200 crore to implement its expansion plans.
“We are strengthing our presence on national highways, setting up electric bus sheds, bagging all major government contracts on the back of our tested and certified technology which makes EV charging safer. In India, we are the only players that have EV charging set up that meets all safety standards including ARAI testing,” Dhanuka said.
The company had recently bagged the contract for installing and operating 100 EV charging stations in Delhi.
The contract awarded by the local urban bodies in Delhi includes key locations such as South Ex, Lajpat Nagar, RK Puram, Dhaulakuan, Vasant Vihar among other major commercial areas on the ring road that crosses South Delhi.
India is likely to see a massive EV boom by 2030. According to a FICCI report, India will need over four lakh charging stations by 2026.
