VW ID Aero
The mid-range model should occupy an important segment for VW.
VW is expanding its electric ID family and preparing customers for the ID.6. As the fifth model alongside the ID.3, ID.4, ID.5 and ID.Buzz, it is to become the electric alternative for the Passat from 2023, the manufacturer announced.
With the ID.Aero Concept, VW gives a first look at the design of the large mid-size sedan.
The model, which is almost five meters long, is nicknamed Aero for two reasons, according to VW. On the one hand, it offers a very airy interior, where the backbenchers should sit as comfortably as in the former flagship Phaeton. This is ensured by the electrical engineering integrated in the underbody and the above-average wheelbase. On the other hand, the upcoming ID.6 is particularly streamlined and has a Cd value (flow resistance) of just 0.23.

So far, VW has only revealed the notchback variant. But the model should be in demand especially as a station wagon.
The technical basis for the electric flagship is once again the modular electrification kit (MEB). With the one or two engines, rear or all-wheel drive and a maximum output of 299 kW/400 hp are possible. VW has planned a battery with 77 kWh for the ID.6. This should enable a standard range of 620 kilometers.

The electric offensive from Wolfsburg does not end with the new top model. By the middle of the decade, the Lower Saxony company is also planning to have offspring at the other end of the range and want to submit two entry-level models with the ID.1 and ID.2.
