In the two years since it was founded, the VW software subsidiary Cariad has mainly caused problems for the group. Schedules for newly developed software were not met. As a result, important model projects have been delayed – especially at the premium brands Audi and Porsche. The problems also led to tensions between CEO Herbert Diess, Audi boss Markus Duesmann and Porsche boss Oliver Blume.
The supervisory board had put Diess, who is responsible for Cariad on the board, under pressure to act. Diess must present its solution concept by the next meeting of the control committee in the coming week. Now the compromise is as good as finished, according to corporate circles in Wolfsburg. A final fine-tuning still has to be done in the coming days.
