Tata Motors clocks steady gains in June

Tata Motors has posted a steady increase in sales in June. It sold 41,690 ICE vehicles compared to 23,452 ICEs sold in June 2021, clocking a 78 percent increase. Even on a month-on-month, comparison, the sales are up 5 percent from the 39,887 ICE vehicles sold in May.

The carmaker also posted a steady uptick in the sale of electric vehicles as well. The June EV sales came in at 3,507 units compared to 658 sold last June and 3,454 EVs sold in May. For the entire Q1 of FY23, Tata Motors sold 130,125 units, up 6 percent from 1,23,051 vehicles sold in Q4FY22.

Speaking on the overall vehicle sales momentum, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility said, “Demand for passenger vehicles continued to stay strong in Q1FY23 even as the supply side remained moderately impacted due to the lockdown in China. Overcoming the challenges, Tata Motors posted record-breaking monthly sales (June’22) as well as quarterly sales (Q1 FY23).”

Tata Motor’s SUV portfolio contributed 68% of Q1FY23 sales. Chandra added that, “Electric vehicle sales attained new heights with quarterly sales of 9,283 in Q1 FY23 and highest-ever monthly sales of 3,507 units in June 22.”

The Nexon EV Max launched in May has witnessed strong demand. Going forward, Chandra expects, “the supply side, including that of critical electronic components to progressively improve. We will continue to keep a close watch on the evolving demand and supply situation and take appropriate actions.”
