European premiere: Autonomous large bus in regular service

The first autonomous bus in Europe is in regular operation in Stavanger.

Since the end of June, an autonomous large bus has been operating in Stavanger, Norway, which is integrated into the regular service. It is the Karsan Bus e-Atak.

The vehicle was developed by Karsan and Adastec. It is electrically powered and can navigate by itself. With the inauguration of the vehicle, it was put into service immediately. The previous tests were completed on the Michigan State University campus.

The bus has various sensors, including lidar, cameras and radar. Thermal imaging cameras are also installed. Therefore, the bus can be operated day and night and in almost all weather conditions and it reaches level 4. The bus drives at a maximum speed of 50 kilometers per hour.
