AHMEDABAD: The city civic body has decided to increase its revenue share from electric vehicle (EV) charging stations set up on a public-private-partnership (PPP) model. As per Gujarat Electric Vehicle Policy 2021, the civic body gets 70 paise per unit charged at the EV charging station set up on the PPP model. The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has now decided to increase its revenue share to Re 1 per unit charged. The decision was taken during the AMC’s standing committee meeting held on Thursday.
The civic body had entered into an agreement with Energy Efficiency Services Ltd, a joint venture of the government, to set up EV-charging infrastructure. The agreement was also modified to include the change in revenue sharing.
According to the policy, the local body allots land for free to private players to set up EV charging stations and also gives subsidies ranging from Rs 20,000 to Rs 1.5 lakh. AMC planned to set up 100 public EV charging stations across the city. However, so far the civic body has set up only three charging stations. The civic body is in the process of setting up two more EV-charging stations one at Nehru Bridge and another at Prem Darwaza.
