The Delhi government has started building electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at 14 cluster scheme bus depots, reported TOI on Monday.
According to the report, the construction of these charging stations has started at various places including bus depots at Rajghat, Chattarpur, Dwarka Sector-22, Seemapuri, Dilshad Garden, Kair, Dhichau Kalan, Rani Khera, Kanjhawala, Bawana Sector-1 and Sector-5 and Rewla Khanpur.
Delhi government’s enterprise Delhi Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (DTIDC) has undertaken the project to build these stations.
The EV charging stations will have GPS and real-time-kinematic solutions to establish accurate positioning of all the existing features of the sites, including boundary measurements, coordinates of all corner points, buildings and other site features.
The customers will be charged under Rs 2 per unit at the new charging stations, compared with the rate of Rs 10-15 per unit in other states, the Delhi government said.
Sources said that apart from these 100 public charging stations, which were being installed through an open tender, the Delhi government also planned to add 20 more sites of the transport department in the next phase of installation.
“The public charging stations are visible from roads and have large ‘Switch Delhi’ signs, apart from an overall bright green colour scheme,” TOI reported citing sources.
The Delhi government plans to open 100 new charging stations across the city by September this year.
At present, Delhi has 573 charging stations, 812 charging points, and 318 battery swapping stations. The 100 new charging stations offering 500 charging points are expected to open by September this year and include 71 charging stations at Delhi Metro stations.
