Omega Seiki Mobility opens third EV plant in Faridabad

Omega Seiki Mobility has announced the opening of a new integrated manufacturing facility at Faridabad, Haryana. This is its third EV manufacturing plant in the northern State.

The two existing plants are located at Industrial Model Township (IMT) at Faridabad. While the first plant produces electric cargo vehicles (7,200 units per annum) and also houses the OSM India R&D Centre, the second facility rolls out electric two-wheelers with an annual capacity of 12,000 vehicles per annum.

With an initial investment of Rs 75 crore, the third unit will have a production capacity of 15,000 electric three-wheelers per annum. An additional investment of Rs 150 crore in the next three years will see Omega Seiki ramp up the manufacturing capacity to 50,000. OSM will be manufacturing its Cargo Electric Vehicle Range: Rage+, Rage+ Rapid, Rage+ Frost and Rage+ Swap and electric passenger vehicle stream at the Faridabad Facility.

Omega Seiki Mobility, which offers fast, swap and fixed options with its vehicles, is also gearing up to introduce retrofit vehicles in India.

Speaking on the opening of the new plant, Uday Narang, founder and chairman, Omega Seiki Mobility said, “We have an order book of 50,000-plus cargo electric three-wheelers. We have set up this facility to meet the growing demand of the market. I want to thank the government of Haryana; the government has been extremely supportive.”

“We have invested US$ 50 million in all the three facilities in Faridabad till now and recently inaugurated a manufacturing facility in Pune for producing electric cargo and passenger vehicles. We are receiving good feedback on our electric passenger vehicle; we will be soon launching another facility in Chennai which will only cater to OSM electric passenger vehicles,” added Narang

In line with its aim to decrease the carbon footprint by reducing waste and emissions associated with the manufacturing process, the new manufacturing unit in Faridabad will have automated manufacturing systems for logistics and material handling, fabrication and painting, assembly and quality assurance.

Omega Seiki Mobility is one of the few EV OEMs to have all-electric two-, three- and  four-wheelers in its product portfolio.
