Zomato-backed Shiprocket buys omnichannel platform Omuni for $25m

Indian logistics tech platform Shiprocket, which is backed by Zomato and Temasek, said it has acquired textile manufacturer Arvind’s SaaS business Omuni in a Rs 200-crore ($25 million) cash-and-stock deal, strengthening its omnichannel offering by reducing delivery timelines and enhancing customer experience.

Omuni’s acquisition is the latest addition as part of Shiprocket’s shopping spree, which has bought logistics tech startup Pickrr, marketing tech company Wigzo, warehousing space platform Glaucus, and business-to-business transportation company Rocketbox so far this year. It is reportedly also in talks to buy the Indian business of Shyplite.

“Omuni’s SaaS products will allow us to unify inventory, order, catalog, content, pricing and data across physical and digital storefronts for the best possible e-commerce experience for customers. Together, we aim to redefine e-commerce logistics through omnichannel retail enablement,” Saahil Goel, co-founder and CEO of Shiprocket, said in a statement.

Launched in 2017, Shiprocket connects retailers, carriers and consumers across national and international locations by providing a technology stack to help retailers integrate their shopping websites on Shopify, Magento, Woocommerce, Zoho or others.

Based out of Bengaluru, Omuni claims to help global brands run over 5,000 stores by offering discovery, selling and assistance platforms to its clients such as Omuni.suite, Omuni.space, Omuni.xyz, Omuni.mobi and Omuni.one.

Omuni claims to have done over 11 billion of gross merchandise value (GMV) orders, helped more than 100 brands such as Mufti, Vero Moda, Arrow and GAP.

In December, Shiprocket brought in Zomato as an investor, when it raised $185 million as part of its Series E funding round, co-led by Zomato Ltd, Temasek Holdings and Lightrock India.

While Shiprocket has yet to file its financial statements for FY22, according to Fintrackr, the company’s scale soared 2.2X to Rs 358 crore in FY21 as it posted a profit of Rs 12 crore. On the other hand, Arvind Internet ended FY22 with a Rs 25-crore top line and Rs 29-crore loss.
