It actually looked like Herbert Diess would fulfill his three-year contract as VW boss. He was the favorite of the financial markets. In investor circles, he was considered the one who initiated the transformation with electromobility and digitization in the rather slow Volkswagen Group in good time.
There is little doubt in the group and the supervisory board that Diess gave the group, which was badly hit after the diesel affair, decisive impetus for a new start. The family spokesman Wolfgang Porsche and Hans Michel Piëch also said goodbye to him on Friday evening with praise: “Herbert Diess has strategically aligned the Volkswagen Group with electromobility.”
