Amberg, January 28, 2020 – Grammer AG has signed a broad-based contract for the delivery of passenger seats for the next generation of French high-speed trains being assembled by train manufacturer Alstom. In this context, Grammer AG, a specialist in commercial vehicle seats, will be fitting the new French Avelia Horizon TGV high-speed trains with passenger seats in both, the first and second class. Grammer has been active in the rail sector for over 30 years and is currently one of the world’s leading manufacturers of seating systems for rail transportation.
“The seat system for the new TGV is a completely new development that sets standards in terms of comfort, ergonomics, weight savings and life cycle costs. We are delighted that we have been able to convince Alstom as the manufacturer and the French state railway authority SNCF as the operator of the benefits of our innovative, forward-looking concept,” explains Timo Bauer, Vice President Rail & Bus at Grammer.
“This contract award confirms our strong position and reputation as one of the world’s leading manufacturers of seating systems for rail transport. We already supply customers around the world with seating solutions for long-distance and urban transport and will grow further in this attractive market segment,” adds Thorsten Seehars, CEO of Grammer AG.
Up to 200 Alstom Avelia Horizon trains to be fitted with Grammer seats
Under the platform agreement, Grammer will initially be supplying seats for 50 trains assembled by the French rolling stock producer. The platform agreement also includes an option for fitting up to 150 additional trains with passenger seats manufactured by Grammer. Based on Alstom’s Avelia platform, the new high-speed trains are intended to make SNCF’s trains the world’s most modern high-speed fleet. Grammer has developed an innovative seating system for this series from the ground up. Known as the LL3000, the system sets new standards in design, ergonomics, comfort and safety while reducing weight and improving life cycle costs.
“We have gained in Grammer one of the most experienced providers of rail transport seating solutions as a partner for our premium high-speed train.
