Volkswagen is entering the second part of the year with more optimism. “The group expects the product mix to normalize as the semiconductor situation continues to improve and the company is benefiting from a strong order backlog,” the Wolfsburg-based automaker announced on Thursday morning. A “clear recovery” in sales figures at the end of the second quarter promises a “positive development” in the second half of the year.
The VW Group also confirms its existing outlook for the second half of the year. Volkswagen expects sales for 2022 to be between eight and 13 percent higher than the previous year. In the operating business, the group expects a return on sales of between seven and 8.5 percent.
With the confirmation, Volkswagen is a little more cautious than other automakers. Mercedes had raised its yield forecast for the current year the day before.
