Dear reader,
Bus, train and car travel is becoming more expensive again in Germany. As of today, after three months, the 9-euro ticket is no longer available; the tank discount is also eliminated. There is much discussion about a successor regulation for cheap tickets. Despite (or because of?) 52 million tickets sold, the result has been nothing.
With the inevitable reference to the responsibility of the federal states, Federal Transport Minister Volker Wissing hesitates to make a clear statement. Doesn’t sound like far-sighted government, even if Federal Minister of Finance Christian Lindner rejoiced on Wednesday, Wissing had convinced him that a “digitally bookable ticket that could be used nationwide” could be financed. We are excited. For the time being, however, it is going back to the expensive tariff zone jungle.
