Mercedes GLC
The Swabians’ best-selling SUV has gotten a little bigger in the new edition.
The new Mercedes GLC is ready to go. The Swabians’ best-selling model should go on sale this fall and cost at least 57,632 euros, the manufacturer said. This makes the SUV for the upper middle class a good ten percent more expensive than its predecessor.
According to Mercedes, however, there are also significantly more cars. The GLC is not only better equipped than before – for example with a standard electric tailgate. The visually streamlined city SUV is also six centimeters longer and has a wheelbase that is around two centimeters longer. This should offer more space for the backbenchers and a 600 liter volume ten percent larger trunk.
The GLC is a long-legged relative of the C-Class
There is also a fully digitized cockpit with a flat screen behind the steering wheel and a touchscreen that literally grows out of the center console. In addition to the MBUX infotainment system, it also runs a new assistance system. When driving off-road and when maneuvering with cameras, it should enable a view through the bonnet onto the road.
Cockpit of the GLC
The new generation should be more digital.
Technically, the GLC is again closely related to the C-Class, and also uses their rear-axle steering, for example. But there are also other engines. It starts with a 2.0-liter petrol engine with 150 kW/204 hp or 190 kW/258 hp and a 2.0-liter diesel that is available with 143 KW/197 hp or 195 kW/265 hp . Unlike the C-Class, a six-cylinder diesel will follow later. Project manager Peter Kolb announced that it should have a displacement of three liters and deliver more than 220 kW/300 hp.

More choice and power for the plug-in hybrid
According to the manufacturer, all combustion engines are electrified with a 48-volt network and are supported by a 17 kW/23 hp electric motor. For the 219 to 240 km/h fast starting engines, Mercedes promises consumption values โโof 7.3 liters of petrol or 5.2 liters of diesel. This corresponds to CO2 emissions of 167 or 136 grams per kilometer.
Also available semi-electric
A diesel is to be submitted later, the plug-in hybrid is available directly.
In order to bridge the gap to the electric future, the GLC is also available again as a plug-in hybrid – this time with more choice and more range. According to Mercedes, for example, it combines two petrol engines and one diesel, each with a 100 kW/136 hp electric motor and a battery with around 32 kWh. The GLC should be able to do up to 140 km/h and more than 100 kilometers electrically.
