The car company Volkswagen reappoints its brand board. This would set the course for the transformation of the company into the digital and autonomous mobility age, VW announced on Tuesday. As manager magazin already reported, Thomas Ulbrich Board member of the newly created New Mobility department
, which brings together the E series and software expertise of Volkswagen passenger cars. Kai Grünitz, previously Head of Development at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, succeeds Ulbrich as Board Member for Technical Development (TE).
Other personnel changes affect the finance department. Patrik Andreas Mayer, currently Chief Financial Officer at Volkswagen Group Russia, will become Chief Financial Officer of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. He succeeds Alexander Seitz, who will assume overall responsibility for the Volkswagen Group South American Region as Executive Chairman. Ulbrich, Grünitz, Mayer and Seitz will take up their new positions effective October 1, 2022.
With the restructuring of the technical board departments, Volkswagen wants to create a foundation to advance the transformation of the company into a software-oriented mobility provider. “With the newly created board department New Mobility, we are bundling the strategic fields of action of e-mobility and software, thereby increasing our speed of innovation. I am delighted that Thomas Ulbrich is taking on this task,” says Thomas Schäfer, Member of the Board of Management at Volkswagen.
