Electric cars from Audi
German manufacturers are heavily dependent on the company car market.

German company cars continue to run on diesel and petrol and hardly any electricity. Only every eighth company car was an electric car last year. That is significantly less than in the case of private registrations, where every fifth car is now powered by electricity.
Why is that? Entrepreneurs and fleet managers report high charging costs and a lack of availability of electric cars. Because even if the market were to demand more electric cars, the industry could not supply enough.
Not good conditions for Germany’s goal of having at least 15 million electric cars on the road by 2030. The currently around 4.4 million company cars are a major lever for this project, because they are usually exchanged for a new car after three years.
