The electric sports car scene got even hotter with the debut of the Aspark Owl. Its elegant design and astounding speed make it a must-have for any car enthusiast. If you own one by now, you know how lucky you are to drive one of only 50 of these hypercars ever made! It’s also a historical car, being the first Japanese full-electric hypercar ever. The more you learn about this beast of a machine, the more you will want to get behind the wheel.
10/10 Pure Power
The Owl has serious power when it’s on the road. With four permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM), the Owl can produce 2,012 horsepower (1480 kW). This astounding feat continues to set the Owl far ahead of other hypercars. These statistics will surely keep it on the leaderboard for many years to come.
9/10 Fast and Furious
Thanks to its lightweight design and its powerful motors, the Owl flies from 0-60 in just under 1.7 seconds – 1.69 to be exact. This alone sets the Owl far apart from its competitors with astounding speed. It makes one wonder if we may see this design make its way onto the racetrack in the near future.
8/10 Historic Masterpiece
Beaming with pride during his presentation of the car in 2019, Aspark CEO Masanori Yoshida said that they were the first company to present the concept of a full-electric hypercar back in 2017 as well as being the first to present the production version at the 2019 Dubai International Motor Show. He added that “We will be the first to deliver a full-electric hypercar to customers in the second quarter of 2020.” This amazing moment in hypercar history shows that this car is truly a miracle of Japanese engineering.
7/10 Beautiful Design
Based on “elegance, beauty, and femininity” the Owl’s design makes for an eye-catching model that is a true work of art. From its inception to its production, the Aspark Owl has caught viewers’ eyes like something out of a dream. The designers wanted to achieve something that was not too flashy, and instead invoked elegance and luxury. They seem to have achieved the best of both worlds with a car that looks fast, but also has the graceful curves of Aphrodite herself.
6/10 Fantastic Handling
When getting behind the wheel of such a powerful and fast machine, one might fear the wheel taking them for a ride instead of the other way around. Drivers can rest assured that when they grab the reins of the Aspark Owl, they are in for one of the smoothest rides of their life. Sporting a double wishbone suspension with hydraulic dampers and torque vectoring, the Owl handles like a dream come true. Wondering about tires? Customers have the option of either the Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 or the Pirelli P Zero rubber tires. These grip the road and give you high-performance speed as well as comfortable control.
5/10 Battery Power
The Owl can drive far on its lithium-ion battery, almost 280 miles, before needing a charge. With a total power of 1,300 kW and a Battery Monitoring System to keep it under automatic control, the Owl takes both dishing out and monitoring its power very seriously. With a charging time of only 80 minutes, you will be back on the road in no time.
4/10 Competitive Speed
Combined with its record-setting acceleration, the Owl’s overall speed is impressive, to say the least. It can reach a top speed of nearly 250 mph on the track and you will definitely feel the G-forces as you put the pedal down in this hypercar. All that speed while also feeling light as a feather and handling as smooth as glass.
3/10 Super Lightweight
With the chassis being a single carbon monocoque structure and the body being the highest quality of CFRP, the Owl is incredibly light and shockingly durable. The overall weight of the chassis is only 264.5 pounds! The design also has “honeycombs” which are used on the chassis to better absorb the shock while also increasing the overall safety of the car.
2/10 Automatic Ground Clearance
Thanks to its double-wishbone hydraulic suspension system, drivers are able to change the ride height between three- and six inches. They can choose to do this manually if they wish, but the Owl offers this as an automatic option. With three-level ground clearances and four driving modes, the Owl is perfect for drivers who aren’t always on super smooth tracks and have to deal with the unpredictable roads of the world.
1/10 Limited Edition
Buyers looking to obtain an Owl of their own will have to choose from a limited supply of only 50 cars worldwide. The price of an Aspark Owl is approximately $2.8 million dollars, (or €2,900,000 Euros) when pulling out their wallets. However, this high price comes with full customization of the Owl for its buyer. This means that of the 50 that are released, each one is customized by their owners, ensuring that they are unique from one another. Production will take place in Turin, Italy, in collaboration with Manifattura Automobili Torino. In addition, producers will have the full support of the Aspark engineering centers throughout the world.
