Dear reader,
Last night at just after 10 p.m., Volkswagen sent out a press release entitled: “Volkswagen Consolidates Development for Autonomous Driving.” The background was clear a little later: The US start-up Argo AI, in which both VW and Ford have invested billions, has no future. Ford is writing off $2.7 billion, and VW is also likely to take such a step. Both car manufacturers each held 40 percent of Argo.
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles had the first models of the VW ID. Buzz already equipped with Argo technology and tested in Munich. Now the VW subsidiary is to continue with an unspecified partner. In order to advance autonomous driving in private transport as well, Volkswagen’s software subsidiary Cariad will intensify its cooperation with Bosch. Read more about the big Argo bang here.
