What can be more fascinating than crazy hypercars with even crazier price tags? Even the ones that were super expensive back in the day but are now cheap often turn out to be cash drains. But while it may seem impossible to many, some companies have set out to make hypercars more accessible to the public. One of them is British sports car manufacturer Ultima Sports with their model, the Evolution Coupe.
The Ultima Evolution is a car that provides the experience of a hypercar at a price that many enthusiasts will or at least can consider. Yes, it has its quirks, but what’s more commendable is that it provides many things that companies such as Bugatti and McLaren offer, but at a fraction of their prices. Therefore, we have some interesting facts about the Ultima Evolution that explain why every car enthusiast should try the Ultima Evolution.
9/9 It Is One Of The Quickest Cars On The Planet
The first reason is that it is one of the world’s quickest cars. Yes, we agree that Electric cars (Tesla mainly) may beat that easily in the future, but 0-60 mph in just 2.3 seconds is nowhere near slow. The Evolution reaches 100 mph in 4.9 seconds and 150 mph in 8.9 seconds. That’s probably the time you took to read this paragraph.
For instance, the Bugatti Chiron does 0-60 in 2.4 seconds. So, you get a hypercar performance in a fraction of what you’d spend on any other machines this quick. You might wonder about the Tesla Model S Plaid and the Dodge Demon, but these cars do not provide Ultima’s hypercar feel and handling.
8/9 Several Crazy Powerful Engine Options
If it is a hypercar, it has to have hypercar-level performance. And to provide that, the Evolution features a potent Chevrolet V8 LS fuel injection engine that is highly tunable.
There are mainly three states of tunes that come with the Ultima Evolution. A 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine makes 480 horsepower, a 700-horsepower 7.0-liter LS7 V8, and a 6.8-liter supercharged LS V8 that churns out 1020 horsepower! And they calculated these ponies at the rear wheel!
7/9 It Is Feather-Light In Weight
To attain the monstrous speed records and to make the car a 2.3 second 0-60 mph qualifier, it has to be light. The Ultima Evolution weighs just 2094 lbs. For a car with such performance on offer, that chassis helps it boast an insane power-to-weight ratio.
They make the body of lightweight materials like carbon fiber and fiberglass. They also made the tubular design chassis, keeping the lightweight agenda and safety in mind.
6/9 It Cuts Wind And Sticks To The Road
Well, this is quite obvious. By the looks of it, anybody can tell that this baby monster by Ultima cuts through the wind like anything. The aerodynamic design of the Ultima Evolution helps it keep the drag coefficient as low as possible.
The Evolution sticks to the road very firmly, thanks to the front splitter and the large rear wing. Ultima made the rear wing from carbon fiber, and they also give the option to have the front splitter made of carbon fiber.
5/9 It Looks And Sounds Amazing
We cannot deny the fact that the Ultima Evolution looks sophisticated and stunning. The F1-inspired aerodynamics gives the Ultima Evolution true race-car character. The gorgeous lines floating all over the body, the big functional rear wing, the front splitter, and the beautiful headlights make it an undeniably dazzling car.
The supercharged 6.8-liter LS V8 engine also gives it a crazy sound! Just listen to it while it revs on the higher RPMs.
4/9 The Racing DNA Is Prominent On The Inside As Well
The inside of the Ultima Evolution is as intriguing as its aerodynamics. Once inside, it feels sporty! The analog meters, manual gear lever, bucket seats, steering wheel, seat belts, central speedometer, and RPM meter give it a proper race car appeal.
However, it makes you feel elegant at the same time. It features leather finishes almost everywhere. With options, you can also choose the roll cage to be wrapped in leather. Now that is what we call luxury.
3/9 It Is Sold As A Kit-Car
If you have Gearhead fantasies about building your car, this is the right place for you. The Ultima Evolution is also available for sale as a kit car. For those who don’t know what a Kit car is since we don’t get them often now, the whole car is shipped to the owner in parts, and finally, the owner gets to build their car!
The car comes in boxes, and the tubular frame is where the owner has to start. Later on, putting on the leather wraps around the dashboard has to be done by the owner. So yeah, if you take it as a kit car, best of luck with that! But the Ultima technicians are always there to help. Ultima states that over 75% of its customers build the Ultima themselves. And building it yourself is both an invaluable and a rewarding experience.
2/9 The Suspension & Transmission Add To Its Character
The Ultima Evolution is crazily quick, and the monstrous power has to be mated with a monstrous transmission to withhold all the crazy torque and ponies. It features a Porsche six-speed manual transaxle gearbox with a machined billet quick shifter cable change system.
The accurate responsiveness and handling come from the suspension setups. The TIG welded double unequal-length wishbone suspension and fully adjustable coil spring dampers give Ultima its character and handling.
1/9 It Is A Bargain Supercar
With crazy performance, 2094 lbs of weight (including two seats and Air conditioning), great handling, stunning looks, and a hypercar feel, these fantastic hypercars start at just around $120,000. However, this price varies on the customizations you select.
It is hard to find a hypercar anywhere near this price point. So basically, the Ultima Evolution is among the gems made for people who cannot afford to have expensive machines in their garage.
