Porsche is pushing the tube when it comes to e-mobility: Starting next year, the sports car manufacturer will be adding a whole range of other e-cars to the first purely electric model, the Taycan. It starts with the second generation of the Macan SUV.
According to the manufacturer, like the Taycan, it should have an 800-volt architecture and then even be able to charge with more than the previously possible 270 kW. Although the battery has around 100 kWh and should last for around 500 kilometers, the Macan manages to charge from 5 to 80 percent in less than 25 minutes, Porsche continues.
Depending on the variant, there are two engines with a total system output of up to 450 kW/612 hp and a maximum torque of 1000 Nm.
The car gets a slightly rear-heavy weight distribution, complex innovations on the chassis and the first rear-axle steering in this series.

New platform and more models
The Macan will later be followed by a sports car in the format of the 718 and at least one other luxury-class SUV. According to information from company circles, the latter should still be higher than the current Cayenne in terms of format and price.
The Macan and the other models use a new electric platform (PPE) that was jointly developed with Audi. This allows more flexibility in drive and dimensions and is designed for significantly larger quantities. From 2025, Porsche wants to sell every second car as a plug-in hybrid or purely electric vehicle and by 2030 it will have a battery share of 80 percent.
