Snows Group buys Portfield in Chichester

Snows Group has hit the acquisition trail buying Portfield in Chichester, which represents Citroën, Mazda and Peugeot (pictured) brands in the city. A Toyota franchise dealership is also being developed for the site.

The deal also includes Portfield Part Exchange Centre Bognor Regis, which will become Snows’10th specialist used car outlet under the banner Too Good to Auction.

Along with West Sussex, Snows has a trading footprint in Berkshire, Devon, Dorset, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Somerset, Surrey and Wiltshire.

Stephen Snow, Snows group chairman, said: “We have been keen to have a trading presence in Chichester for some time and an opportunity presented itself.”

With the new operations in Chichester and Bognor Regis, Snows now has 45 franchise dealerships, 10 specialist used car outlets and five manufacturer-approved repair centres.

Snows has been expanding. In July last year it opened its second Suzuki dealership in Basingstoke.

But 2016 was a critically busy period for the group with the opening its first Suzuki dealership in Poole and the acquisitions of WKB Toyota in Waterlooville and Chichester.

The same year it bought a Seat business in Yeovil and Citroen, DS and Peugeot businesses in Basingstoke.

Snows is rated 67 in the Motor Trader Top 200 with annual turnover of £219m.

The Portfield acquisition is unrelated to a car dealership based in Christchurch, Dorset.
