German Manager Magazin: Tesla: Elon Musk raises the prices for his SUV model Y in the USA002297

The electric car manufacturer Tesla has in the USA raised prices for its Model Y just before the weekend following an expansion of tax incentives by the US government. The price of the Model Y Long Range rose by 1500 to just under $55,000 (51,060 euros) and that of the Model Y Performance by 1000 to just under $58,000, according to the company website.

Earlier, the US government expanded the number of consumers who are eligible for a tax credit on a $7,500 SUV purchase. In addition, the definition of what an SUV is has been adjusted, and cars up to a price of $80,000 are now eligible for the grant. The badly battered Tesla stock

rose slightly premarket on Monday.

Tesla only reduced the prices for the Model 3 in the USA and Europe in January in order to counteract sluggish demand and growing competition. Tesla boss Elon Musk (51) had last week at the Telephone conference on the current quarterly figures

emphasizes that this step has given a strong boost to demand. Despite the doubts about its leadership qualities and the imploded share price, the carmaker presented solid numbers.
