The independent commercial lawyer Günther Horvath (70) is to join the supervisory board of Volkswagen AG move in and take over the vacant place on the shareholder side. The nomination committee of the group’s supervisory board passed a corresponding resolution, the company announced on Friday.
According to VW, Günther Horvath, born in Salzburg in 1952, studied law in Graz and New York and has been working as a commercial lawyer for more than 40 years. Until 2017 he was a partner in the international law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, after which he founded his own law firm, Dr. Günther J. Horvath Rechtsanwalt GmbH, Vienna.
He has also been a member of the supervisory board of Porsche Automobil Holding SE since 2018 and is also a member of the board of directors of industrial foundations. According to the VW press release, he has decades of expertise in supporting international transactions and advising industrial companies.
