Mercedes boss Ola Källenius again earned millions in 2022 because of the carmaker’s strong numbers – but a little less than the year before. His total compensation last year was around 6.11 million euros, according to the group’s compensation report published in Stuttgart on Tuesday. In the same period last year, Källenius had earned 6.14 million euros.
The remuneration was essentially divided into a fixed component of EUR 1.73 million and a variable component of EUR 3.86 million. The variable remuneration depends, among other things, on the achievement of certain goals and is paid out at different times. The CEO earned significantly more than his colleagues on the board, whose salaries were between 3.1 million euros and 3.6 million euros.

Thanks to luxury models and price increases, the company made significantly more profit in 2022 compared to 2021. The group result was 14.8 billion euros. That was a third more than in the previous year if only the continuing operations are considered. A billion-dollar special income due to the spin-off of the truck business from Daimler Truck had pushed up the group profit in 2021 to over 23 billion euros. Sales increased by 12 percent to 150 billion euros in 2022.
