Molested Waymo car fights back

The incident of harassment of an autonomous car in the USA was accidentally filmed and documented: the Waymo vehicle can fight back.

A team from a US television network filmed the incident Phoenix coincidentally where a Waymo autonomous car was attacked by two younger people. The two people brought the car to a stop, as researchers had previously feared. Children, it is feared, could make fun of stopping the cars at random.

And the car stopped. The two adolescents stood next to the car with their bicycles and tried to open the doors of the car. But this did not work. So a young man stood on the hood of the car and posed for a photo, which his companion then took.

But that Waymo Vehicle knows how to defend itself. First, it warned people to move away from the car so that the car can continue. Then a siren sounds, intended to unsettle the oppressing forces. Finally, it is informed that the local security authorities will be informed if the vehicle continues to be harassed.

The two people actually quickly moved away from the car. Neither of the two adolescents were injured in the incident and the vehicle sustained no damage. Nevertheless, the two people do not remain unidentified. Numerous cameras recorded the two people and a good picture of the faces was probably taken.

The autonomous vehicles have a large number of sensors to perceive the environment. Even their behavior will be for few seconds in advance. The AI probably didn’t expect that. But the Waymo Driver, the name of the AI-supported driving system from the Google sister company, also learns people’s behavior from such situations.
