The US electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla lowers prices for all vehicles for the second time this year. It falls for the more expensive models S and X by 5000 US dollars each, as the company announced on Friday evening in Austin.
There’s also a new base version of the Model Y, which can be purchased for just under $50,000 upwards.
company boss Elon Musk recently declared its willingness to forego profitability in favor of increasing sales figures. Tesla already reduced prices in mid-January, but the effect of the campaign quickly fizzled out.
In the first quarter, deliveries increased by only four percent compared to the previous quarter. Almost 18,000 vehicles produced initially found no buyers.
Even a price reduction initiated in March only for the S and X models was hardly successful. Of these, Tesla only sold 10,695 units in the first quarter, which was the lowest level since the third quarter of 2021.
